The perpetually anxious are masters of avoidance.
Avoidance tactics are used within many tasks. So many, in fact, that life itself becomes an object to avoid as well. The anxious are afraid of stepping forward in any moment. The more action is delayed, the more anxious we become. Make a to do list. Prioritize inefficiently. This is what we deem as satisfactory . Avoiding the situations caused by avoidance only makes anxiety bubble up and over. Chunks of to dos go unattended. The anxious know it, they just keep on avoiding it…again and again.
Anxiety sinks like black sludge. All the bad feelings clog up within your diaphragm. It gets a little harder to breathe. A frog climbs into your throat and it just sits there….ribbet… ribbet… “Why do I feel this way?” is the first thought. Thoughts and delusions spiral out of control. Reality is no longer clear. Anxiety is a collection of psychological art that illustrates intense anxious states of being, driven by the primal brain and its fight or flight instincts.
This collection was drawn with Golden Acrylic Paint Markers on bristol paper. All pieces are accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.
